VIRTUAL FORUM FOR ACADEMIC AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP LPTK

Jakarta, June 22, 2010 - Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (STKIP) Kebangkitan Nasional- Sampoerna School of Education (SSE) as one printers institution education personnel working with the World Bank, USAID-DBE2, Microsoft Partners in Learning, and the Swedish International Development Agency, today held a discussion among experts from international educators with leaders from the community of Education Workforce Education Institutions (LPTK) with the theme of Directions in the Changes of Pre-Service Teacher Training in Indonesia.

Discussion forum which was attended by members of the association LPTK and Dean of the Faculty Forum for Education and Pedagogy (FKIP) from all over Indonesia was attended by experts from the international community of educators as a speaker, among others, from Michael Calvano of DBE 2 USAID, Ritchie Stevenson from the World Bank, Cher Ping Lim of the Microsoft Partners in Learning and Partesh Pandya of the Center for Environment Education, India,

Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen as Dean of the Sampoerna School of Education explains, "as one printers institutions educators, we feel you need a forum of discussion to be a forum for scholars and practitioners of educators to deal with national education reform."

The expert educators who attended the show explores the Virtual Forum discussion of different topics in accordance with their respective expertise. Like them discussing about the integration of Education for Sustainable Development in teacher education LPTK manifested by Partesh Pandya or integration and implementation of the Active Learning / students Centred learning for teacher education in LPTK hosted by Michael Calvano of DBE two USAID. While the World Bank and the Microsoft Partners in Learning explores the topic of discussion about the practice of teacher education from the international world, and the integration of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in teacher education in LPTK.

"Our goal in inviting experts from international educators is to provide a different perspective and input to the educational sector in Indonesia. This forum is also expected to improve Indonesian education towards sustainable development., "Added Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen.

The challenge of sustainable development facing the education world will not escape from the national education reform and also the development of science and technology. Reform is not only the responsibility of educators but rather the responsibility of an institution as a whole printer educators. Discussions are expected to be a forum to exchange ideas among leaders in Indonesia LPTK with international experts among educators.

Discussions involving LPTK from all over Indonesia is using a video conference format as a method of applied development of ICT in education. "We invite speakers and LPTK who was in Jakarta to attend the video conference room of the SSE, while LPTK-LPTK outside of Jakarta will be set up video conferencing equipment from their respective campuses," concluded Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen.
