The training was not only given to the 90 SSE students, but also for many teachers from various schools who are interested in developing their knowledge in the field of ICT.

In his presentation, Shinohara said that one of the most important breakthroughs in the application of ICT in education is that a teacher can effectively apply the Aptitude-Treatment-Interaction (ATI) methods ; a learning approach that can accommodate students' various learning styles in order to reach an optimum learning outcomes.

"Every student has their own preferences and advantages in different fields. Therefore, the learning approach used  should be different, and ICT can accommodate these differences. For example in the study of history, using multimedia students can choose more freely what subjects they want to learn first, and the way they deliver a variety of ideas can also be varied. They can express their ideas and answers via video, songs, blogs, and others. This proved to be more successful. "Shinohara said.

The seminar is the beginning of a series of seminars and training that he will he do for nearly a week in SSE. The trainings from 7-11 June 2010 is for the teacher candidates and educators, aiming to improve the quality of Indonesian teachers which is SSE's commitment. Included in the agenda are seminars and trainings that emphasize the integration of ICT pedagogy to aptitude-treatment-interaction (ATI) and training on the use of multimedia for teaching staff in supporting the teaching activities and how to teach multimedia.

"It is hoped that Professor Shinohara's visit can open new horizon and develop SSE students' and faculty members' skills further. In addition, it is also a form of SSE's concern in improving the professionalism of teachers especially the mastery in the field of ICT by inviting teachers to participate in seminars and trainings which are free of charge "says Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen - Chairman of the SSE.
