
LECTURER OF SSE BECAME A SPEAKER IN UNESCO-APEID CONFERENCE, HANGZHOU, CHINA
The 13th UNESCO-APEID International Conference and KERIS-World Bank High Level Seminar on ICT in Education, with the theme "ICT Transforming Education", was held in Zhejiang International Hotel, Hangzhou, People's Republic of China (PRC). Hosted by Hangzhou Department of Education and Xiacheng People's Government, Hangzhou, the event took place on 15 - 17 November 2009 with over 100 speakers from all over the world, including the USA, UK, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Pakistan, Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, India, Australia and ASEAN countries, presented throughout the three-day conference in both Plenary and Concurrent sessions. The event was collaboration among UNESCO-APEID, World Bank, Korean Education & Research Information Service (KERIS) and Chinese National Commission for UNESCO.
The opening ceremony of the conference was attended and addressed by Mayor of Hangzhou Municipal Government, Director General of Xiacheng District, Hangzhou, Director of UNESCO Bangkok Office, Lead Education Specialist for East Asia and Pacific, World Bank, Vice Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China, and Thailand's Minister of Education among others.
Sampoerna School of Education (SSE) participated in the conference by presenting a paper titled "Impact of Pre-Service Teacher Training: A Case Study of Teacher Education Programme in Indonesia", written by the lecturers of SSE which are Obert Hoseanto, Stien Johanna Matakupan, Kartika Yulianti, Susilowaty and Caesilia Ika Widanti. It was presented by Obert Hoseanto The paper suited the conference sub-theme of "The Impact of ICT Teacher Education Programmes", and was presented with two other presentations from Universiti Sains Malaysia titled "Impact Evaluation of the Intel® Teach to the Future" and from Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Cambodia, titled "Advancing on ICT-Based Professional Skills for Teachers". The presentation was scheduled on Monday, 16 November 2009. Questions arose from the presentation were inquiring about were more towards Teacher Institute (TI) as the community service division of SSE, how does TI deliver workshops to 14,000 teachers so far and who funded the workshops. Other questions included who developed and delivered the programmes, as well as what would be the required credentials for both.
Other presentations attended were "Reboot and Retool: Toward a System of 21st Century Teacher Professional Development", "ICT Integration in Pedagogical Practices during Initial Teacher Training in Chile", "Research and Development of Innovative Teacher Education and Training Programme Models to Support the ICT as a Tool and ICT Integration into Pedagogy", "Insights from UNESCO's Next Generation of Teachers Project", "ICT Training Curriculum for Pre-service Teachers in Malaysian Public Universities", "Educating Teachers for Leadership in the Age of the Internet", "Developing a Curriculum for ICT-Based Professional Skills", "Effective Integration of ICT in Education: ICT Capacity Building vs. Sustained Professional Development of Teachers", "Mind of Quest and Self-Learning Abilities for Teachers in the Computer Age", and "What Makes Teachers' ICT-Supported Resource Centers Effective, Affordable and Sustainable?".
Closing Ceremony was attended and addressed by the Minister of Education of Bangladesh and Deputy Minister of Education of Laos, among other distinguished officials from PRC's MoE, World Bank, UNESCO and KERIS.
