Department Of Mathematic Educations

Program Curriculum (English/Mathematics)

1.Educational Studies Courses

Educational Studies will develop the professional and ethical insights that all teachers need.  Teacher candidates will consider the "Why?" in addition to the "What?" and "How?" of the curriculum and practice of teaching in schools.  The areas of study will develop the professional knowledge, skills and attributes for reflective and effective teaching.  In this, teacher candidates will draw upon their increasing awareness of how students think, learn, and develop.

2. Discipline Studies Courses

Discipline Studies offers a choice of one of two main subjects (English or Mathematics). A significant amount of time is spent in study of the specialist subject.  The courses are designed to develop the knowledge, conceptual understanding and modes of enquiry related to that subject and required of a specialist teacher.  They will, in addition, support teacher candidates' potensial as curriculum managers and successful teacher candidates can look forward to eventual curriculum leadership roles within their schools.

3. Curriculum Studies Courses

Curriculum Studies prepares teacher candidates to specialize in the methodology for teaching core subjects of the National Curriculum.  The courses will ensure that teacher candidates achieve a secure knowledge and understanding of teaching in the core subjects (English or Mathematics) plus the pedagogical skills in teaching the specific subject.

4. English for Pedagogical Purposes

English for Pedagogical Purposes has two primary functions.  First, it serves to develop the English Language proficiency of teacher candidates integratedly across the main four domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, which is needed for them to undertake the program courses successfully.  Second, it allows them to develop professional communication competence in English language. Specifically, the courses will equip student teachers with the English language competency that they will require for teaching, as well as for engaging effectively in academic discourse.

5. Professional Preparation

School engagements (or practice teaching) take place across each year of the programme to enable teacher candidates to develop teaching competencies in a variety of contexts.  Each of the field experiences is highly structured, closely supervised, and intended to provide multiple opportunitities for teacher candidates to plan, instruct, reflect, ad respond to students in general education classroom settings.

6. Personal Development MPK Courses

Personal Development courses equip teacher candidates with skills, knowledge, and attitudes based on the Indonesian' way of life, to be faithful and devoted to God Almighty and who are civic and responsible citizens.
